Bola Tinubu, whose full name is Bola Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu, is a politician and accountant from Nigeria. He has been the national leader of the All Progressive Congress since its foundation in 2013.
He served as Governor of Lagos from 1999 to 2007 and as Senator for Lagos West during the brief Third Republic. In January 2022, he declared his intention to run for President of Nigeria on the APC ticket in the 2023 election.

Tinubu was raised in southwest Nigeria and later studied accounting in the US before spending some time working abroad. Midway through the 1980s, he returned to Nigeria and continued his career in finance management. In 1992, he entered politics by running successfully for the Lagos West Senate seat on behalf of the Social Democratic Party.
