Just In: Tinubu visits Owo, donates N75m to victims, others
Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and a presidential hopeful, has visited Owo in Ondo State, where over 30 Catholic members were killed by suspected terrorists.
Remember that on Sunday, June 5, 2022, unidentified armed men stormed the St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo and opened fire on worshipers.
Several people who were hurt in the attack are currently being treated in hospitals.
Tinubu, who visited the area on Monday, June 6, 2022, contributed N50 million to help with the victims' treatment.
He also made a N25 million donation to the Catholic Church where the incident occurred.
The APC leader had previously condemned the terrible attack in Ondo state on Sunday.
"I deeply condemn the terrible and brutal attack that occurred this morning at the St Francis Catholic Church in Owaluwa, Ondo State," he said in a statement. I wish the injured and bereaved healing and comfort.
"May Almighty God grant eternal rest to the dead as He grants tranquility to those left behind."
"My heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to H.E. Governor Akeredolu, the government, and the people of Ondo State." "May God bless us all," he said.
Meanwhile, on behalf of the president, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who is also a presidential aspirant in the ruling party, is in Ondo state to mourn with the victims of the Sunday attack.
