Atalanta to pay Leipzig €15m for Lookman
According to Italy’s Gazetta dello Sport, RB Leipzig are presently in negotiations with Atalanta Bergamo for the sale of Nigerian attacker Ademola Lookman.
And after two consecutive loans to the Premiership, Nigerian winger Lookman finally looks set for a permanent departure from RB Leipzig.
Italian sports daily Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Atalanta Bergamo are interested in acquiring the player on a permanent basis. A first assessment of Lookman by head coach Domenico Tedeseco has apparently yielded the conclusion that there is no place on the roster for the 24-year-old.
Leipzig paid approximately €18m to bring Lookman in from Everton in the summer of 2019.
Since then, he’s made just 22 league appearances for the German Red Bulls, though he has scored five goals and chipped in a further five assists. Lookman’s current market value, down from a peak of €20m three years ago, stands at about half that. The Italian daily nevertheless claims that RB might get around €15m for him.
