Genk reject Cremonese offer for Dessers
KRC Genk have turned down offers from newly promoted Italian Serie A side, US Cremonese, for Nigeria international, Cyriel Dessers, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
According to Belgium’s HNL, Genk considered the offer from the Italian side too low and were not ready to enter into negotiations for the forward.
“The Belgian site HLN reports that Cyriel Dessers, top scorer in the first edition of the UEFA Conference League with the Feyenoord shirt, had ended up in the sights of Cremonese,” tuttomercato quoted.
“The 27-year-old Nigerian striker, who has returned to Genk for the end of his loan, will not come to Italy for the moment. The Grigiorossa offer was deemed too low.”
The Super Eagles forward impressed during his loan spell at Feyenoord during the 2021/22 campaign – where he emerged as the top scorer of the UEFA Europa Conference League – but returned to his parent club at the end of the season after the Dutch club failed to meet the Genk’s valuations of €4m for the forward.
Despite several interests for the former Heracles Almelo striker, no concrete offer has been submitted forcing the 27-year-old to continue his career in Belgium.
Dessers started the 2022/23 season in fine form getting on the score sheet as Genk suffered a 3-2 defeat to Club Brugge in the matchday onePro League season.
