When will Premier League players return from the World Cup?

Premier League clubs are preparing for the restart of the season, with the mid-season break coming to an end.

England’s top-flight has stopped to accommodate the Qatar World Cup, but the tournament is nearly finished and the Premier League will be back underway soon.

When will they return?

Premier League players going back to their clubs will, of course, depend on how far their country goes in the World Cup.

England’s top division does not restart until Boxing Day, meaning stars knocked out after the group stages have been afforded some time off.

For example, Arsenal’s Thomas Partey has returned to first-team training after Ghana were knocked out in the group stage.

However, those playing in the knockout rounds missed out on those games at club level and instead be back among training in the days preceding the Premier League’s restart.

England’s players have now returned home after their 2-1 defeat to France but it remains to be seen when the likes of Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka return to training.

Some stars will only have eight days to recover in time for the league’s resumption should they reach the World Cup final on December 18.

Hugo Lloris, Ivan Perisic, Raphael Varane and others are all still in Qatar chasing glory.

For those players, it would be at their respective team’s digression to decide upon when exactly they will be needed back in training.
