Goals from Josko Gvardiol and Miroslav Orsic helped secure the win over the history-making Moroccans, who were impressive and resolute all tournament.
Croatia have been in six World Cups as an independent nation and, remarkably, they’ve they’ve finished in the top three in half of those – 1998: Third place, 2018: Runners-up, 2022: Third place.
Their performance as a whole was positive, but it was the scenes after the game that warmed the hearts of many watching fans as the players celebrated the win with their families.
As the Croatian players received their bronze medals and went into celebration mode, the players called the coaching staff to join them on the podium to join the party with them.
Soon after that, many of the players’ children entered the pitch to revel in the bronze medal glory and there were some heartwarming pictures from the scene.
Tottenham man Ivan Perisic even passed up a place in the team huddle as he danced away with his kids.

While many nations don’t particularly enjoy the third-place play-off, it was different for Croatia, who sent out a strong team in the hope of getting another World Cup medal – adding to the second place from the last time around.
The players’ children joined the squad for the celebration photos and were joyous, jumping and rejoicing in their parents’ success, creating some wholesome pictures to savour.
This has been a fine World Cup for Croatia, with the highlight being the win over Brazil that got them into the quarter-final and giving them a chance to compete for another medal in the competition.
For a country with a population of under four million people, the last two World Cups have been inspiring as they’ve beaten the odds to make it far in both editions.

And, having guided Croatia to a place in the final four years ago where they lost 4-2 to France, head coach Zlatko Dalic sees finishing third in Qatar as like winning the tournament.
“I am very proud with my team and my country,” he added.
“We did a great job tonight and all through the World Cup. For us bronze is a gold medal. We played a tough tournament. Morocco did similar to what we did in Russia.
“I am very proud and happy. Maybe nobody expected us to do this again. We are a small country but we have a big dream.”
